Carburation
I had a terrible hesistation problem from 2 - 4000 revs after having my cylinder head flowed, it was running so sick that I no longer jumped at the opportunity to ride my bike when the weather was good. Dyno runs showed no power had been lost, but it would load up as though running rich after a few miles.
First assumption was that it couldn't breathe enough air, so I fitted the factory stage 1 kit, problem remained. So I went for the stage 3 and drilled my air box, still no cure. I fitted K&N filters oiled as they should be, no improvement.I thought I was imagining it as sometimes it seemed worse than others, then it began to load itself up if riden sensibly round town at the proper speed limit ie: less than 30 mph, wound fully on it wasn't a problem. Back to the dyno, change jets, change needle positions, Double check float heights as this is very important on this bike.

De oil the filter/filters by washing out using petrol or similar solvent using protective gloves and other equipment as required. Using an oxygen meter check readings. These will vary, sometimes rich sometimes lean sometimes correct. All 3 scenarios would occour without modifying anything.

Confusion would be an understatement, so I stripped the carbs right down, I happened to glance at the emulsion tubes (the bit in the carb body that the needle sits in) and thought they looked unusual so I stripped the carburettor further and pushed out the emulsion tube upon closer analysis I could see that the round hole that the needle sits in had gone oval.

I remembered reading something on Factorys® tech tips section about a problem with Ducati’s . I re loaded the site and found the following image demonstrating the similar problem that was occouring with ducatis.

So I contacted Factory® by e-mail asking wether they had come across this problem and if they did replacement emulsion tubes.

Next top tip don't e-mail Factory® as they don't seem to bother to come back to you!
I tried genuine Suzuki parts so at £20 EACH I thought of another solution which was to cut the unworn tops off some old emulsion tubes I had and silver solder them onto the origonal tubes ensuring I kept the correct length.

Everything was how it should be and the bike is a pleasure to ride again. Factory® now doreplacement emulsion tubes so Straightline Racing inform me. Which I have duly purchased and installed keeping my temporary repair units for emergencies. I think its caused by the Origonal Suzuki needles are thinner than the Factory® bandit kitneedles. The standard needles vibrate in the orifice at medium to full throttle wearing it oval, the Factory® needle are a lot fatter. My bike had done 12,000 miles when this happened, Straightline have come across bikes with mileages as low as 4000 miles with this problem.

If this problem applies to you best get the warranty claim in ( mine is now more than 2 years old and
Suzuki will not honour it.).

To remove this problem I am converting my Bandit to Fuel injection using parts from a GSXR750WW and a Power Commander II from Dynojet®
