Exhausts and end Cans
Having first purchased the bike I learnt that changing the end can from the standard Suzuki unit to an aftermarket unit would give a significant increase in power , in the order of 12 hp. Changing this end can is the sigularly cheapest/greatest power gain ratio you will get.

The aftermarket can I chose was a ‘BOS’ round black brushed aluminium unit made in Holland not cheap

but very well made and has lasted for 17,000 miles with no signs of detereation.

As I developed my engine I seemed to hit a ceiling at around 130 hp the changes I had done should have pushed the numbers towards 140hp. I looked at the standard exhaust and found a build of the weld that joins the inner and outer skins together.I cleaned the welds to give a smoother entry into the exhaust. No gain.

Checking around on the internet I found some information on exhaust header sizing. Made some calculations and started to look for a replacement complete exhaust system with a header ID of 37mm. Reading up on reports etc I ended up purchasing a ‘Cobra’ system from Speed products in Germany. The system is made in Stainless steel. I will inform you of the performance figures when I get the bike back onto the dyno
